TEAM HISTORY
Okay, we know claiming to have a “history” implies we either (1) have actually accomplished something in our lives or (2) have lives at all. But we’re going to call it that anyway because it sounds cool. (We’d use “dossier”, which is cooler, but we’ve already used that elsewhere.)
The roots of Gilligan’s Disciples started when Paul and John Maitrejean finally scrounged their money together and made themselves the proud owners of Wal-Mart cheapo markers in 2001. They played around with another friend, who came aboard the paintball bandwagon just long enough to get his underwear stained purple. (The purple came, not from paint, but from the juices of burdock leaves he’d stuck in his pants to create makeshift ghillie [which didn’t work]. John also tried it, with the same results.)

Then the Maitrejean brothers introduced Nate and Jed Krug to the delights of paintball. Being on the same activity wavelength, the Krugs ended up buying their own markers, and soon the four were throwing paint around on a regular basis.

We quickly upgraded from our cheap markers to the far better Tippmanns we all now sport today, and by 2006 had gained enough experience and confidence to lay the foundations of a paintball team.

But the name presented a problem. Everything we came up with had a sound we could bet almost anything had been used by other teams. One day, while we stood around the Krug kitchen throwing ideas back and forth, the Krug brothers’ dad, Ken, suggested “Gilligan’s Disciples”. At first, we laughed, thinking the name too weird. It made sense, though . . . “Gilligan” was Paul’s nickname (reminiscent of the old TV show, Gilligan’s Island) and since he was largely responsible for getting the Krugs into paintball (and was the team captain), “Disciples” would reflect on his influence that way.

We chewed it over, and the more we thought about it, the better “Gilligan’s Disciples” sounded. Next thing we knew, we’d adopted the name, whipped up the logo and plastered it on tactical vests and T-shirts, and were proudly displaying it at games.

Since that time, we’ve sunk a lot of energy into making Gilligan’s Disciples a force to be reckoned with. We practice and brainstorm, working on improving every time we play. Our name has turned lots of heads at scenario games, and we’ve gained special recognition at various scenarios.

Eyes open at the next game! We could be there.

And let us know if you’ve visited our site. We like meeting people.

Here’s a list of past games we’ve attended. We’ll keep adding to the list as we continue going to scenarios.
